Epic Game Store Drama

The Epic Game store has been receiving a lot of ire from gamers. A few weeks ago it announced that The Outer Worlds would be an epic store and Windows 10 exclusive on PC. Now Borderlands 3 is the latest game that Epic has locked down. The reasons for the fan backlash are many but here is a pretty informative tweet on some of the major features Epic lacks.

Prince Harry Wants Fortnite Banned

Duke of Sussex, Prince Harry, called Fortnite “An addiction to keep you in front of a computer for as long as possible.” “Where is the benefit of having it in your household?” The questions that used to be on the media’s lips was, “Do video games cause violent behavior?”

The studies on those haven’t proven that to be the case but the new question seems to be, “Are video games addictive, and how much.” That’s a question that I do think is worth looking into.

Developers talk about developmental woes with Anthem

Jason Schreier, editor at Kotaku wrote a very detailed article about what went wrong during the development of Bioware’s latest release, Anthem. Anthem is a much hyped online multiplayer action game in the same vein as Destiny or The Division.

The game released under much scrutiny and is currently sitting at a metacritic score of 55 for the Playstation 4 version.

After the lukewarm reception of Bioware’s last game, Mass Effect Andromeda, following up with an even bigger critical disappointment is a blow for the AAA developer.

No Man’s Sky is getting a VR update and it looks like a game changer

Hello Games continues to work on and improve upon their 2016 title, No Man’s Sky. This time they are adding VR so player can experience the game in an entirely different way. The early reports from people who have previewed the VR mode have nearly all been extremely positive.

It seems that the VR functionality is well implemented into the very fabric of the game design. Maybe this is the ultimate experience No Man’s Sky was meant to be all along.
