First look at the Sonic the Hedgehog design sends fans reeling.

The first trailer for the Sonic The Hedgehog movie didn’t get the reaction from Sonic fans Paramount Pictures had hoped for. The quality of the film presented in the trailer would be questionable to many on it’s own, but what really upset the Sonic fandom is the design of Sonic The Hedgehog himself.

Lot’s of backlash came flooding in through social media because of Sonic’s look. In a surprising twist, the director of the film has responded by saying changes will be made to bring the hedgehog’s design more in line with something the fans would want.

I’m not sure how they will have the time and money to make a fix with the movie releasing in the not distant future but it looks like they are going to do so. Hopefully in the end the final product is something everyone can be happy with.

Rumor: A Forza Racing Game Is Coming To Switch

Microsoft seems to be continuing their quest to spread their IP’s to other platforms in order to reach a larger audience. For the first time, we may get a Forza racing game on another gaming console besides Xbox.

Ar12gaming has reported that through data mining Forza Street, (a mobile iteration of the Forza racing games) they have discovered references to the Nintendo Switch in the titles programing data. Now this isn’t a main line Forza racing game so it’s not quite as big of a deal as would be if this were say, Forza Horizon 4. With that said, if this turns out to be true we would see another layer in the growing relationship between Microsoft and Nintendo.

Borderlands 3 Gameplay Is Available And It Looks Like Borderlands

Borderlands 3 Sonic The Hedgehog Days Gone

Gearbox games hosted an event where they had their first major reveal of Borderlands 3 gameplay. Viewers were treated to an hour of gameplay footage while streamers and gaming journalist got to get hands on with an extended play session of the game.

From the footage shown and from the feedback I have heard from those who attended the event, the game looks and plays like a more modernized version of Borderlands 1&2. I get the feeling that most Borderlands fans are happy to hear this and the game is seemingly poised to do well when it releases later this year.

Epic buys Rocket League

Rocket League

If you thought Epic games has been doing a lot to piss off PC gamers these last few months you were not wrong and you are about to be righter still. Epic has added to the agitation of many vocal PC gamers this week by buying Rocket League developer Psyonix.

At first it seemed that Rocket League may be pulled from Steam completely in order to bolster the Epic Game Store with another exclusive, but Epic has since announced that they haven’t made solidified plans as to what they will do about Rocket League and it’s availability on steam. Epic has been pushing hard to attain a library of exclusive games and it’s not hard to see them adding Rocket League to their growing list of titles.

Despite Disappointing Reviews, Days Gone Sells Big

DAYS GONE

Days Gone debuted to a (by Playstation AAA exclusive standards) subpar 72 metacritic score but that hasn’t stopped the game from selling quite well in the UK. Eurogamer reports that Days Gone has been the number 1 selling physical game of the week.

This is quite the feat as it has beaten out, the storied Mortal Kombat franchise and their newest game release, MK11. Even more impressive is that Days Gone is a new IP and it has had middling reviews. This just goes to show the power of the Playstation name and marketing machine. Also I am personally playing Days Gone and enjoying it quite a bit. It may become somewhat of a cult hit amongst consumers.

What have I been up to this week?

For the last couple weeks I have been mostly playing a lot of Days Gone. With about 15-20 hours in I like the game a lot. Days Gone definitely has its rough edges, and the AI has been even laughable at times. That said the gameplay loop of running around an open world, doing missions, and avoiding zombies really resonates with my sensibilities. This a game I a m certainly going to play all the way through.

DAYS GONE

For the most part I’ve been pretty busy so I haven’t been gaming much more beyond that. This week I plan to remedy that problem though as I finally have a pretty open slate, and I plan to fill it with lots of games.
