Modern Warfare is back!
Infinity Ward is back making a new Modern Warfare Call of Duty and it looks as good as ever. Information on the game is sparse but we do know that the game will be a reboot or re-imagining of the Modern Warfare series as opposed to a direct sequel. Some characters will return such as the iconic Captain Price. Here is a direct quote from Activision’s blog.
The new Modern Warfare delivers an emotionally charged and intense campaign that shines a light on the changing nature of modern war. Expect a single-player experience that is edgy, culturally relevant, and thought-provoking.

Players will fight alongside a diverse cast of international special forces and freedom fighters working within the grey area of their rules of engagement, in a number of heart-pounding covert operations set throughout iconic European cities and into the volatile expanses of the Middle East.
Unlike Black Ops 4, Modern Warfare will bring back a full single player campaign. The campaign will focus on two primary groups, special forces operative and a group of rebel freedom fighters in the middle east. Another noticeable change is no mention of a battle royal mode. As I have said before, battle royale is one of my favorite multiplayer modes in games but Call of Duty has always been best known for their more traditional multiplayer and perhaps they are going back to their roots there as well.
The addition of playing as a rebel group will be something new. The developers want to give players a multifaceted perspective of war and tell the story through more than one lens. It all sounds like the most exciting shake up for Call of Duty in a long while.
Death Stranding Gets a Release Date and Trailer
Hideo Kojima’s latest masterwork, Death Stranding has it’s first trailer and gamers are as confused as ever. In true Kojima fashion, the story will be front and center with notably acting talent and and likely deeply complex plot threads.
Some of the notable talent lending their performances and or likenesses to the game are Norman Reedus, Madds Mikkelsen, Lea Seydoux, Guillermo del Toro, and Lindsay Wagner. The game is slated to release November 8th, 2019.
PC version of Xbox Game Pass Announced
Microsoft continues to blend the PC and console space together. PC players will soon be able to subscribe to their own version of Xbox game pass, gaining access to over 100 PC games for a monthly subscription fee.
Windows Central has put together a list of what titles will be available in the coming months. Currently there is some form of gamepass on PC as Xbox owners can play all “Play anywhere” gamepass titles on PC or Xbox. Even though the structure is there, it doesn’t seem to be quite fleshed out as many users have reported issues with certain games.
Hopefully when it officially launches on PC, it’s as smooth and value filled as the Xbox version. Microsoft is really looking to break down a lot of the barriers that console gaming has erected in the past two decades, gamepass is another step in doing so, let’s hope the end results are positive for all gamers.
My Week in Gaming
Last week I finished up Days Gone and just before writing this post I finally wrapped up Wasteland 2. Seems as though the older I get the longer it takes me to burn through games. I think part of the problem is, I want to see and do too much in the game. I take of every side missions, open all the doors, I am far too tempted to stroll through everything which is rewarding but also greatly time consuming.
Wasteland 2 was a great play though and it’s not my second cRPG I have played to completion. I’m really excited to see what InXile does with Wasteland 3. They are one of the studios that was bought by Microsoft last year and now they should have a lot more resources to push Wasteland 3 to a higher standard of quality.
E3 is coming later this month and we are getting some new footage of Wasteland 3 among the litany of other games we will learn more about. The excitement for this time of year is always palpable and every day that goes by the taste is sweeter and sweeter.
